Pop of Color
Using colors is a fun way to make school work more engaging for your student. Not only are they a great way to stay organized, but colors can help your student with reading comprehension, studying, writing papers, note taking and focus. Colored pens, colored fonts, highlighters, and colored sticky notes are great supplies and tools to use both on the computer and on paper.
Note Taking
Organize your notes by writing main points in red and details in blue. Create a system where you highlight the bigger topics, or write your questions in a different color. Drawing pictures or using symbols activates different parts of your brain and will help with the note taking process.
Writing Papers
Use colors to group together similar thoughts from your mind-map or outline. Color code your research by topic or even by source to keep your work cited page organized.
Studying
Colors can help draw your attention to certain details. A plain black-and-white page can be monotonous to study. Use colors to emphasize main points, certain details, or key words.
To-do Lists
Use a highlighter to organize your tasks by category. Highlight your English work in yellow, math in blue, science in green, etc. Using different color sticky notes to differentiate chores from school tasks.
Calendars
Different colored pens or fonts can help you organize your time on your calendar. Keep your color choices consistent so your brain connects the color with the task.
Colors help ignite your senses, draw your attention, and stimulate your brain. Whether you are a high school student, in higher education, or even in the workplace, colors can be a valuable tool to help with organization and focus.
