3 Strategies to Simplify your Exam Prep

Final exams can inherently feel like a stressful and overwhelming time.  To help manage your stress here some exam preparation tips to help you make the most of your time:

1. Get Organized: don’t just organize your space, organize your material. Go through your course material, class syllabi and notes to make sure you know what topics are on the exam.  After figuring out what the exam will cover, create a study plan chunking each section into smaller study sessions.

2. Take Breaks:  While it might sound counterintuitive, breaks are an important part of maintaining stamina while studying.  Scheduling breaks can also help you ensure that you are staying on track and becoming distractions.

3. Become the teacher: We’ve said it before and we will say it again one of the best ways to make sure you understand the material is to explain it to someone else! Recruit your roommate, friend, little sibling and or pet to practice teaching the material.  Afterwards evaluate the pieces you had a more challenging time explaining and pencil in a few more minutes to do some intentional studying on those topics.
