Get in the Zone!
Here’s a quick calendar tip to help increase your productivity and manage your time: make appointments with yourself! Oftentimes, our calendars are full of commitments outside of our control- maybe a work meeting or for your student, an extracurricular activity. Often, parents and students find themselves mismanaging time outside of those scheduled commitments.
For example, parents may not be able to find time for reading, unwinding or cleaning. Students struggle to initiate doing their homework or organizing their room. Adding a time zone to your schedule to complete these tasks is a great way to ensure they are completed. This simply means, adding a scheduled time to your calendar to complete those tasks as if they are appointments you make with yourself. This strategy is helpful in ensuring that you are prioritizing your time each day for what needs to be done and what you’d like to accomplish.
Time Zones are also a great visual reminder of your goals and they provide great practice for creating and establishing new routines/habits. Be sure to plan ahead -around pre-scheduled events, like soccer practice- so that you can use your available time as efficiently as possible.
