Get SMART in 2022!

Making a New Years' resolution can sometimes be daunting. And phrases like, "New Year, New You” can encourage resolution-making that isn't realistic or achievable, leading to overwhelm and perceived failure.

To set and achieve goals that actually work for you, use SMART goals:

Specific: Be as specific and clear as possible with what you want to achieve. The narrower your goal, the more you’ll understand the direction you want to go.

Measurable: How will you know you’re making progress toward your goal? Setting achievement milestones lets you celebrate your progress!

Attainable: Setting a realistic goal helps you maintain motivation and focus, and decreases feelings of guilt and overwhelm.

Relevant: Goals we truly identify with are easier to achieve. Ask yourself why this goal is important to you, visualize how you will feel when you achieve it, and consider how achieving it might help you better embody your values.

Time-Bound: A deadline for achieving your goal and setting milestones along the way helps your brain with motivation and focus. Having a defined ending point helps you prioritize things that you have decided are important to you.
